At the World Government Summit, Alibaba's co-founder Joseph Tsai discussed the purpose of developing AI. He emphasized the importance of identifying real-world problems and using AI to address them. He said, "I think that's number one. Number two is that DeepSeek has taught us the value of open source. If people can focus on applications and leverage on the open source community, I think in the future probably smaller models will proliferate and contribute to the power of AI."

He highlighted the growing trend of AI localization, emphasizing that regulatory challenges necessitate collaboration with local AI developers, potentially driving future partnerships like Alibaba and Apple.

Joseph Tsai said "they talked to a number of companies in China. In the end they chose to do business with us. They want to use our AI to power their phones. We feel extremely honored to do business with a great company like Apple."
