Google CEO, Sundar Pichai, conversed with UAE's AI domain officer at the World Government Summit 2025. He talked about AI development, risk and supervision, also self-driving.

For the hot issue, Deep Seek, Sandar Pichai commented it provides an efficient model and is open source that can be accessed immediately by anyone. The most important takeaway is Deep Seek's innovation further confirms that smart technology will become popular and will profoundly impact the world.

Sandar Pichai also mentioned the Quantum Computer. They recently make a breakthrough that completed a calculation in five minutes, which would take thousands of years, longer than the age of the universe, using the world's fastest supercomputer.

When talking about self-driving, Sunder Pichai said they are very focused on safety and want to build a very safe and reliable Waymo driver. Waymo has reduced the accident rate by 78% compared to human drivers, the first time an EV company has achieved this progress. To scale it up, working with regulators and countries around the world is a must.

On whether AI will replace humans, Pichai said artificial intelligence can improve productivity and efficiency in a wide range of areas. The popularity of AI will bring greater value spillover. Also, the future of AI will not be dominated by Google alone.

But with developing, for its risk, each of us needs to take responsibility, so make sure that while you cultivate AI, you assess its risks and take appropriate measures to intervene at any time. A set of global standards must also be established.
